Abby Cadabby premiered on Sesame Street - August 14, 2006 - to rave reviews and believe it or not, some controversy. She was seen on on many local stations & news papers and was even interviewed on the Today Show. That week, ABC World News Tonight made Abby their "Person Of The Week" (Week ending 8/18/06). Abby also made an appearance on The View, interviewed by Rosie O'Donnell's daughter Vivie!

Abby has appeared on The Bonnie Hunt Show, The View, Martha Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg's radio show and was also featured The Martha Stewart channel on Sirius radio's - The Morning Show with host Dean Olsher.

Leslie Carrara-Rudolph performs as Abby Cadabby and has been able to have some flexibility in getting some of her own core values into the character. Those who know Leslie will recognize them immediately, but look for catch  phrases like "follow your heart" to pop (or poof) into the pre-school crowd. Not such a bad thing, eh?

Well, there are only 52 people a year that get to share the honor that Abby Cadabby was bestowed in her debut week on Sesame Street.

For the week of August 18, 2006, Abby was named the ABC World News Tonight  Person of the Week.

Most recently, Abby was seen on The Today Show with pals Elmo and Grover for special Christmas day celebration!  December 25, 2007

On debut Monday, August 14, 2006, Abby Cadabby was interviewed on The Today Show with Anne Curry and Lester Strong.

October 4, 2006, Abby was invited to be on The View, interviewed by Rosie O'Donnell's daughter Vivian (who apparently is a big Abby fan). Although she's quite adorable, she's no Barbara Walters with the questions. Click the logo below to see Abby and Vivie (& Rosie) on The View.

Abby went to visit Whoopi Goldberg on her morning talk show

"Wake Up With Whoopi!" They had a blast - you could tell.

Whoopi even mentions the infamous "Gail" the guinea pig !

People, Entertainment Weekly, Daily News, New York Times, (all here) and tons of local papers

that ran an article that was originally for a Philadelphia paper - but there is just not a lot of room.

Great article on Leslie and her husband Paul in the Bloomington, IL paper where Paul grew up.

Entertainment Weekly gave the new season of Sesame Street an A-, with a great picture of Abby's first day of school. Even though they mistakenly called Abby a new "monster", it was a nice grade for this season's programming.

Abby was featured in the NY Daily News on August 10, 2006.  Not the most exciting article, but at least they don't judge her too much like some of the other ones.

Sorry, link on this one has expired.

Abby was also featured in the Sunday New York Times (Aug.6th) with a big article front page of the Arts section. Quite an honor.

The article was really, really long and kind of missed the point - but there was a great picture of Abby and Oscar above the fold - full size - too big to post here unfortunately. To see the article, please visit the NY Times site at the banner link (left).

EDITOR'S editorial - People at the NY Times...they take life WAY, WAY, WAY too seriously and tend to forget  that Abby is a 3 year old, cute, fairy, Muppet on Sesame Street meant to help kids relate to other kids and teach  them pre-school basics in a fun way. Therefore, I honestly can't recommend this read. They have a bad slant and a  bad attitude. Just wanted you to know its there, and mentioned Leslie one time, and they're ridiculous and could  really use a listen to Spunkinsass the CD to relax and enjoy life. AND, noticing the letters to the editor after this  article ran, there are some lovely New York Times readers that need a drink while they're listening to Spunkinsass the CD. In fact, I may have to send them a copy myself!  Thank you. Rant over.

Opinions expressed are those of Spunky only - no one else - including Leslie or Abby or anyone connected with the either of the two of them have been. Neither were consulted or contributed.
